PE pipe grades have now entered their third generation stage. The first generation was PE63 (no longer available). The second generation was PE80 and the third generation PE100. Small diameter pipes 20mm to 63mm are still available in PE80 grades but almost without exception sizes 90mm and above are now only available in PE100 grades. PE80 pipe is referred to as MDPE (medium density) and PE 100 can be referred to a HPPE or HDPE (high performance or High Density) specifications.
