BARRIER PIPE FOR CONTAMINATED LAND

Contaminated land and many brownfield sites can contain hydrocarbons and certain chemicals which can permeate through the pipe wall of standard PE pipe which could result in the tainting and contamination of the drinking water. Additionally the long term strength of the pipe will be comprimised.

PE pipes are now available with an aluminium barrier layer which prevents attack from chemicals left in the ground from previous use (or those still to come) ensuring long term security of supply of clean and un-contaminated water through pipes which remain structurely sound.

Barrier Pipe systems must carry WRAS and DWI approval.

Barrier Pipes are available in sizes 20mm to 630mm. The pipe is of a composite type and utilises a standard PE pipe with an internal diameter and wall thickness to meet the designated pressure requirement, an aluminium layer which stops any ingress of contaminents and a thin PE outer third layer which acts as a protective skin.
