Dissimilar materials and dissimilar wall thicknesses can be jointed by electrofusion – the lower rated pipe determines the maximum working pressure. Similar materials and similar wall thicknesses may be jointed by butt fusion or electrofusion Dissimilar wall thicknesses must never be jointed by Butt Fusion (other than in a controlled factory environment)
